Our background is youth sports photography.  We've learned what sells and doesn't sell by years of trial and error. We have found the 12" x 18" posters series to be single biggest action sellers in our business. We started out by offering posters in the more common 16" x 20" and  20" x 30" sizes to help advertise and sell our standard photos. They looked great -but to make a fair profit (after paying the lab bill) we priced ourselves beyond most of our customer's reach. Life would great if every action parent spent $69 and up - but we simply found by experience that there were less of these customers and more that would be interested in our work in the $29-$59 range. We set off to find totally new products that would meet their demands and still make us the profits we were seeking in action photography.

Because we sought to offer something unique in design and size we commissioned Artistic Action to help make us a set of borders that we now offer our youth sports parents. We built a product line that is totally unique in shape, design, sizing  and display as it dominates our sales tent onsite.  What started out as an add-on product, we now feature our posters in our advetising and make them the lead (buy-in) product that we sell. We use our sample posters to pre-sell our "best" customers who "commission" us to shoot a poster of their player. We no longer have to shoot all players on speculation, instead we can save labor, time and proofs by only shooting those players who pre-purchase one of our designs. Since shooting this way our profits soared because we concentrate only on the pre-paid customers. By not shooting the entire field, we are able to get better pictures of just the selected athletes and make "mini portfolios" to offer them. Since adopting these sales techniques our action sales have increased and our profits have doubled. Our average sale has gone from $20 to over $50 per customer. We sell more prints and mini portfolio CD's than ever before because we have more (and better) pictures to offer the very parents who are most interested in them.  The truth is that the action posters we offer are now just a starting point rather than the final sale. We use the same templates that you can buy to help grab your parents' attention and draw them into your booth.
